LOCAL FARMERS UNITED TO CELEBRATE THE HARVEST…
Local growers pay homage to everything grown in NEPA!
The founding farmers of the Pocono Garlic Festival have decided to expand it’s venue to celebrate the abundant bounty of produce available here in the northeast and with great deliberation the group renamed their beloved event to the Pocono Garlic and Harvest Festival.
For twenty-four years the festival has collectively celebrated everything garlic, while in conjunction with supporting local family farms. Now the festival, still highlighting garlic will share the spotlight with the rest of the regions late summer harvest bounties that includes hot peppers, heirloom tomatoes, onions and much more.
“It seemed like a natural transition for us. The festival began at the farmers market, and through out the years most of the festival’s farmers sold other produce. This festival was founded on highlighting local farming from day one. Current food trends have finally caught up with what our founders always knew, the importance of locally grown sustainable crops. This is why we wanted celebrate the collective NEPA produce harvest as well.” explained PGH Communications Manager, Sharon D. Rothman
